Health and taking care of you first

The word stress never seems like something I like to think about or even hear the word for that matter, but stress is a part of life and finding ways to try to deal with it can have a big impact on you and your health. Did you know that stress is one of the top ranking things that affects health among people today? One reason is stress slowly tears your body down and can actually make you physically feel sick among other things. You might not be throwing up but your body will be telling you something isn’t right. I have attached a link from the Mayo Clinic for you. Another known factor to stress can be hanging around someone who is negative all the time. We all have bad days from time to time, but if being negative is the highlight of your day, know one wants to be around someone who is negative on a daily basis. This can bring others down and it starts to trickle down like a domino effect. It’s one thing to be there and listen to a friend but it’s another to be the friend who always gets to be the dump truck so to speak to listen to all the complaining and negativity from the other person.

If you are a chronic complainer don’t start wondering why the few friends you do have left start to slowly dwindle away and start coming up with reasons why they can’t hang out, or return a phone call or even a text message. I have one very good answer as to why people do this, it’s because people don’t to like to hang around someone who is negative all the time. I actually went through this with someone so I had to cut ties with that person.

I do still see this person everyday as we work together, but there is not a friendship anymore. I made the choice to distance myself because talking to the person started to bring me down and I listened to this person do nothing but complain and have the feel sorry for me attitude for over a year and finally one day I said no more and ended my friendship with this person. At first I thought it would be hard to do and I felt bad, but then when I really thought about what the friendship was based on it was not even close to an equal friendship by a long shot. This was actually the best decision I could have ever made for myself.
