Website Toolbox

If you are familiar with what a forum is, I think you will appreciate my personal review about a company called “Website Toolbox”. I want others to be aware so the hard work and however long it takes you to create your forum isn’t wasted because it isn’t up to the toolbox standards.

I will explain briefly what a forum is for those of you who don’t know so you will have a better understanding of what I am talking about.

A forum is basically a sounding board where all types of people can voice their opinion, knowledge, show support to others, and engage in many different topics of discussion. For example if you wanted to discuss different cars you could post a topic on a specific car and other people can comment on this topic and provide knowledge that he or she might have about that specific car you posted about. Ladies love to talk about beauty, and fashion. A forum is a great place to learn different tips and overall ideas from others.

Well I had been thinking about adding a forum to my blog. I wanted to do as much research as I could before I made my final decision. Recently my fiance who works on my blog from time to time making sure things are working properly and I, worked on my forum that we received from “Website Toolbox”. The forum was for a 14 day trial. I thought this would be great as I can test it out and see if I really like the layout and if it would be easy for people to understand.

The forum isn’t very expensive if you go with the lowest cost. The price ranges from $4.99, $14.99, and $49.99. This might sound like some great deals right? Well let me tell you I thought that at first too, but after what Toolbox did to me I will never do business with them again.

My forum was worked on for an extended period of time about 6 hours trying to get everything set up and in the order everything needed to be set up. This consisted of a custom background, picking out the background, the colors, a custom header, the design of the header, the category topics and what would fall under each category, and making sure everything fit correctly on the forum and in a certain sequence.

After the forum was done I absolutely loved the layout, the colors, the design, and how easy it would be for pretty much anyone to use, and people who had never used a forum would be able to understand how to use it. I really thought I was pretty close to making up my mind, but was still a little bit unsure as I wanted to try one more company out and compare them with each other before I made my final decision. My forum was done on a Saturday and Website Toolbox isn’t open on the weekends so I would have to wait until Monday to contact them.

Well I can tell you what happened next helped me to make up my decision real fast, and Toolbox lost a great customer because of it. Monday before I could contact them, I actually received a lovely e-mail from Toolbox.

They went and changed my design the background and took my header out. I was not very happy with what they did at all. I mean I never contacted them and asked them to do anything to the forum. The forum was worked on for many hours over the weekend and for Toolbox to just go and change the hard work that was done doesn’t make me a fan of them at all.

You see I was trying to decide between toolbox and vbulletin. Well guess what after toolbox just decided to pull that little stunt; my mind was made up that I will never ever do business with them. I started thinking what if they just up and shut my forum down, and I remembered reading a post from a guy who had issues with toolbox as well.

Now I am still in the process of working towards getting a new forum up and running, but I know for sure I would NEVER EVER recommend anyone to use toolbox. Just because you can pay very little each month, the money is not worth what the end result might be. Imagine if you logged into your site and noticed your forum was gone, or the layout changed, and all the hard work and effort you put in was just gone, how would you feel? I am guessing not very happy.

My advice for toolbox is stop coming up with some great excuse just to try to keep customers. Be honest about the numerous complaints people have stated and work on fixing the issues and stop ignoring the facts of the issues people have with your business. If you want happy customers than you need to put the work in to keep those customers, and not just care about getting paid your monthly fee. I feel Toolbox you really need to learn a better sense of business when it comes to customers.

I am so happy I didn’t have to waste any money on “Website Toolbox”, do research so you wont have to go through what I did.

  • Guys I own a website hosted by websitetoolbox the problem I face is the speed of page views and the cost of extra pageviews see here

    • Crystal Duna

My suggestion would be to not to business with them anymore. Spending money to get started is one thing, but when the service is not what you want or the extra fees just keep adding up, I would not continue to stay with Website Toolbox.

  • thanks for your review, I guess as a blogger it will kill me if the forum is not reliable right?

    • Crystal Duna

      Ailyn,

Yes having a forum that will work properly is the key to what you want if you do have a forum. I am still in the process of trying to get mine up, but I half to wait because the place I am going to be purchasing mine from is doing upgrades so I have to wait until the company finishes the upgrades.

      • Good for you, I don’t think that I can commit that much time at the moment. Which is a shame because it would be so interesting to advance by blog

        • Crystal Duna

Believe me my days are so busy. I work a full time job, work out 4-5 days a week, spend time with my love, and work on my blog, as well as answer emails daily. I really am looking forward to when I can get the forum up. When I do you will be able to share your thoughts and your links for you blog on the forum as well. I want to be able to help others as much as I can.

          • same same, I have a 14 month old, a part time job and part time masters… and Oh… candy crush
